Sunnyvale History:
The history of the city began in the middle of the 18th century during the development of new lands by the Spaniards. Until that moment, the territory was inhabited by the Ohlone Indian tribes.
In 1842, Rancho Pastoria de las Borregas was built on the lands of present-day Sunnyvale, where new settlers cultivated crops and developed agriculture. Subsequently, after the death of the founder of the ranch, the property was divided into several parts between his descendants.

General information
In the 70s of the 19th century, a railway connection was opened in this area. This time was difficult for local agricultural enterprises: tough tax policy, illiterate use of the soil (and, as a result, its degradation) and uncontrolled import of goods led to the fact that most of the grain farms became unprofitable. In their place, fruit farms began to appear. In 1871, the first cannery opened. Refrigerated cars appeared on the railway lines, which accompanied the active development of even larger fruit farms.
In the early 20th century, the existing settlement was named Sunnyvale. Enterprises specialising in the production of dried fruits flourished in the city. Later, a factory was opened, which produced steam engines for river and sea vessels. After a while, a factory for packing local fruits appeared.
In 1912, Sunnyvale officially received city status.
During the Second World War, on the site of existing agricultural enterprises, enterprises were opened that produced rocket launchers, ship engines and guns. During this period, many Mexican emigrants appeared in the region, used as labor in factories.
After the end of the war, many farms did not recover and new houses began to be built in their places, offices were opened and modern infrastructure was created.

Sunnyvale is considered one of the safest cities in America, ranking 18th nationwide. This is primarily due to the fact that the US Air Force base ("Onizuka") is located on the territory of the city, which is the main station of the country's armed forces for satellite surveillance. The city also has a department of the unified system of public security. The high level of training of these employees allows them to be involved in the elimination of emergency situations of various kinds.
Since 1956, Lockheed has been headquartered in Sunnyvale. And since 1969, the well-known company AMD has been operating here, which specialises in the production of microelectronics.
The famous NASA Joseph Ames Research Center is located on the territory of the city, the main direction of which is the study of the Moon and Mars.

Conclusion
The American city of Sunnyvale, located in the state of California, was badly damaged by a tornado in May 1998. This phenomenon, by the way, not typical for this territory, caused significant damage to the city, which amounted to more than 4 million dollars.
